THIS Gives You The BIGGEST Advantage As An Athlete! | Nick & Zack Gallagher, Pro Kendama Players

Two world-class athletes share their transformation through adopting a carnivore diet while competing at the highest levels of their sport. Nick and Zach Gallagher, professional Kendama players representing the USA at World Championships in Japan, discovered the carnivore approach just over a year ago when seeking solutions to persistent health issues despite following what they believed was an optimal "clean" diet of chicken, rice, and vegetables.

Both brothers experienced dramatic improvements after eliminating all plant foods, particularly spinach and rice, which were causing significant digestive distress, skin problems, and energy fluctuations. Nick's daily consumption of spinach at breakfast and up to 1 kilogram of rice per day was causing severe stomach pain, multiple daily bowel movements, chronic acne, and disrupted sleep patterns. Within weeks of strict carnivore eating, these issues resolved completely.

The discussion reveals how metabolic flexibility and sustained satiation provide competitive advantages during international travel and competition. The athletes describe confidently fasting for 16-24 hours when needed, maintaining consistent energy levels without the typical post-meal crashes, and requiring significantly less meal frequency than their peers. They've experimented with raw meat consumption during extensive travel, finding it practical and beneficial for digestion when cooking facilities aren't available.

When forced to eat traditional Japanese foods (rice, vegetables, sugars) during a recent island competition, both experienced immediate returns of brain fog, fatigue, mood changes, and the need for frequent napping - stark contrasts to their usual high-energy state. This experience reinforced their understanding of how dramatically food choices impact cognitive function and physical performance at elite competitive levels.

Key Takeaways

  • Eliminating spinach and rice resolved chronic digestive issues including 3-4 daily bowel movements, severe stomach pain, and morning sleep disruption within just a few weeks

some days you know where I am traveling or some days where I don't really feel like eating or don't have enough time to eat or I think something it's better not to eat today just based on what I have for the day planned being able to confidently be like all right well I'm know I know I'm going to be totally good until the next time I eat I know I'm going to be totally good until tomorrow or until 16 hours now until I get the chance to eat again what I've really really found is that you know it's not like I have to multiple times a day like like everybody else which I think puts me out a really big Advantage energy wise but also time wise and just amount of work I get done a day like just it's massive I don't have to fall pray to my to my Hunger because I'm already super satiated welcome to the plant-free MD podcast with Dr Anthony chaffy where we discuss diet and nutrition and how this affects health and chronic disease and show you how you can use this to optimize your health and happiness both mentally and physically all right hello everyone thank you for joining me for another episode of the plant-free MD podcast I'm your host Dr Anthony chaffy and today I have two very special guests brother Zack and Nick Gallagher who are calling in all the way over from Japan uh thanks for coming in guys how are you doing great doing great it's an honor to be here thank you for having us on we've been watching you watching you for over a year now and yeah it's it's unreal so appreciate you oh well thank you for coming on that that's uh that's awesome so uh you guys are are uh in Japan for uh World Championships and um of uh your sport which we'll talk about but can you give us a bit of a background on who you guys are and and what you do for people haven't come across you before yeah absolutely so yeah my name is Nick this is Zach and we are Kama players this is Kama uh Japanese skill toy three cups a ball I'll connect with the string the yeah it's looking something like this Japanese skill toy from a couple hundred years ago and we started 12 years ago back in middle school and we've been doing it ever since we turned Pro um along time ago and and we've been going to competitions all over the world um in the US um all over Asia and in Europe as well it's it's taken us um to many many places and we've been able to meet a lot of incredible people through it um we've are here again as um yeah for the end of this month for the Canam World Championships at the end of July representing the US um Zach and I have been here every every single year since 2016 so very used to it and and excited to put on again uh for for America and it's yeah it's G to be a great time but yeah we're 24 years old and we yeah as I said we started playing 12 12 and a half years ago and uh something that was just a popular thing to do uh in school something that everybody was into so a fad you know was something that we just ended up getting into just because of that but little do we know we'd stick with it for the next 12 years and it would change our entire lives so we're here now in Japan because of it yeah that's awesome and so first of all that I I've seen you guys videos on that it's absolutely sick like what you guys can do with that thing I I don't you know it's um it's very very impressive obviously you you guys are you know competing on the world stage and like world champions and this so you know you guys obviously are going to make it look easy but um it's um well maybe tell us a bit a bit of background on that you say it's a Japanese skill toy this is something that they were giving to kids or adults or how how would that work yeah yeah absolutely so um this is something that in Japan it's pretty prevalent it's like the America American Zo yo um you everybody knows what it is in America yo-yo and and you know people might do it when their kids but you know it's rare that you see someone take it uh very seriously and that's the same thing in Japan as well it's getting more uh prevalent and people you know taking it as a sport and making it their own sport but usually it's just a household item that people have in in their yeah within the schools or with their own homes they just have sitting around and you know a lot of people think that you can only just do the Cups on it and just do this and that's all there is to it but then once you Explore More and um especially when it came overseas 16 years ago to America you know Americans put their own style on it more of a street style play and yeah I think I think Japanese players took a lot of inspiration from that and was like wow there's actually a lot of things you can do with this um and we haven't explored yet so um yeah it is very simple at first when you're trying you're just trying to connect the two pieces to either a cup or the spike uh and that's it but obviously if you watch some more videos there's there's a endless amount of tricks you can do and so that's why Zach and I you know 12 years in this game and putting more time than most people into it we still feel like you know it's it's never ending and so yeah we're happy to be a part of it and continue to help others right now actually grow in the US I I feel like the competition in in Japan is is really really um it's really difficult it's it's really um you know they they they set a high standard and um um I think I think Zach and I are doing our best part right now as not only Pro players but as mentors and coaches um as well right now in our current Pursuits and our current jobs that we're trying to raise level in America as well so yeah yeah economic is a a sport that is also has worldwide prevalence you know Nick mentioned it came overseas to to America 16 years ago but it's been awesome to see the spread of it worldwide Nick and I were just in uh Europe for Kon as well we're in the Netherlands for the European Kon championships and then people from many many countries in Europe came to that event it's only growing across across the entire world so it's definitely getting a prevalence in the world nice and then so in the competitions what do they have you do is it like a set routine or or how is the competition set up yeah um this is yeah there's a couple different uh competition Styles the easiest one to explain is is it's called open and you pretty much pull out tricks from a hat first to three points win I pull out a trick say I get it Zach misses um I get a point and then we go through the trick list first of three first of three points wins in the finals it's five uh these these tricks are posted online um before competition so we have time to practice and get our routine uh all dialed but then after that it just comes down to who's the best on that day on the with the nerves and on stage and yeah it a high emphasis on consistency so that's one major comp one major style competition but the other one is freestyle and that's pretty self-explanatory say my brother and I are going against each other I do whatever tricks I want for 45 seconds to a minute uh then my round ends then he goes and then we do one more round each and then there's judges who pick Bas pick the winner based on uh difficulty creativity consistency all these things and it's a one-on-one style bracket till the finals and that's usually only conducted for the pro level players too so yeah interesting those are the two main yeah yeah cool and so you guys recently came across the cornivore died as well is that right yeah just about a little over a year ago yeah yeah so how did how did you come to that and why why did you start to do something so crazy and give yourself heart disease and cancer things like that yeah I know absolutely um one of my friends through a Network I'm in um his name is Alex Fresco he introduced me to the carnival diet I I came to him just asking for help and I was thinking okay my sleep I'm living in Japan for you know eight months at this point I'm by myself for the first time in my life just got out of University um and you know trying to figure out how to level up my nutrition because that's for me I've been okay I'm I've been training for four years I've been you know eating this bro diet for four years you know the classic chicken rice broccoli you know these things right um emphasis on um more more so of a plant-based when when you really look at it in the grand scheme of things but so I'm just thinking how can I get any better than this you know if this is Peak then why am I still not getting why am I still expecting myself to wake up in the middle of the night not get good sleep why is my skin not where I want it to be and um why am I having these gut issues why am I going into the bathroom three or four times a day which by the way I thought was normal at the time but you know I get I get introduced to you know this carnivore all meat diet and of course I've heard of it before but I've never actually heard of someone doing it and so I think I was just really really keen on a change and I had I had a call with my friend yeah my friend Alex and he put me you know he gave me some guidance on the carnivore diet and I just said okay well I'm gonna start right I'm gonna start tomorrow I'm not gonna wait I I want to try to change what I'm doing to see if I can get a different output and the first 13 days I I shifted from you know I gave up gave up rice and gave up the gave up spinach which um looking back I think I just ate spinach because I was told that I really just needed a vegetable in my day yeah and so it turned out to be it was the one thing that was causing me or one of the main things that was causing me just like all these problems but um I gave that up gave rice up and um which were and then I just started hammering down the protein and and and more so red meat and um first 13 days I I would I would fluctuate right so mostly meat but then four four times throughout those 13 days I had you know different um I went out with friends and had you know Japanese food rice uh some vegetables here and there and and then I saw okay you know eating eating meat is good but then I keep uh going back it didn't feel it didn't feel like I was getting all the benefits you know I didn't I for me I didn't think I had the right to go back and try these other things yet because I didn't know what it felt like to stick within the path for so long and you know see the benefits of being strict so I told myself on June 30th of of 2023 that okay this is it no more messing around I'm going strict carnivore and this is just literally meat salt water nothing else I still mes I still remember messaging you back then about it and yeah I got encouraged and so I did that and I did a hundred I think it was about 110 days full strict nothing else just just because I was I was done I didn't want to give myself any excuses no what ifs just want a clean slate and so this is something that I you know was really excited to test and man what a the first thing you know the carnivore did for me was break this whole Matrix of what I actually need for what I don't need it really it was the first thing that showed me wow I've been actually from my person experience lied to my whole life about you know what we're taught and what we're supposed to eat and and even how other people look at me as well you know there's these people oh this isn't normal what what are you doing and you know even from close friends or family at first and um just you know giving me giving me a hard time about you know why why aren't you eating vegetables you you're you're going to get sick or you know what you know all this Meats it's gonna it's gonna it's going to hurt you it's going to give you this disease and I'm just thinking that's so weird I can't believe this is happening right now I can't believe I'm being told this and I would tell them yeah no this is um and this is the best I've ever felt and and granted my granted I will say that during the first couple days first week two weeks s and we you know you discuss this on your your podcast a lot your channel and it's not going to be a super smooth transition for everybody you know immediately I love this video that you put up about this this this glass of water this glass of just not water but this glass of um dirty dirty water it's brown and you're pouring you're pouring clean water into it and it takes time to to you know filter all the way out it's not like you can just to pour out the dirty water refill it with clean water right away when you filter out it takes time it takes time and that was the same thing for me um with my skin and and my my my sleeping problems and my my digestive issues it wasn't overnight but you know just a couple weeks of being staying consistent and trusting the process of it I I found out new levels of Health that I never thought were possible and and I I personally gone onto the cariv diet a month a little over a month before Zach and yeah um you know Zach had come to the World Championships of her Kama um last year as well so we got the link up for that yeah and and and what really started me on it was I've always been into Health and Fitness for since Fe February 2019 I remember the month and almost the day that I started really focusing on these things and at this point in my life I'm four and a half years into training and focusing on my health and I I thought I reached uh Peak Peak function you know eating I was still eating I actually ended up eating a pound and a half of meat per day but I went through a lot of periods of you know going really heavily pasing a lot of emphasis on plants when I first started and then a a ton a ton of oatmeal um and slowly but surely got through like kind of evolved my eating habits to this point and at this point I was eating chicken and rice and and eggs and and meat and I was like and veget a lot of vegetables and at this point I was like okay this is this is it I can't get any better than this but Nick said started a carnivore diet uh it was really intriguing to me it's always been intriguing but what really actually made me want to do it was I remember him distinctly one day he's like dude you just don't know how garbage you feel right now you just don't know how how much you feel like trash right now and I was like excuse me like I don't I was like I thought about that really hard I was like I don't feel I don't know if I feel bad I I don't think I feel bad but you know that was just the highest level of function highest level of of like goodness that I felt at at that point and when I got back from Japan seeing him at the World Championships last year I like I couldn't wait I started it very just a few days after I got back to Seattle and that's when I really put full full em in carnivore I did a 31 day challenge myself okay let me see what this is all about let's go fully into it no no other no not one gram of carbs not one gr of anything else besides meat uh butter and eggs and salt and let's just see what happens and that's when I really shifted the Paradigm for myself and what I can actually function and not only function on but really thrive on yeah yeah nice yeah so you guys were eating pretty clean before that I mean you you were health conscious you're you're diet conscious you were trying to do what you know the right balanc sort of diet was and and so it's not like you were eating a whole bunch of junk food and garbage or anything like that no it was it was it was the classic I'd say we were pretty conscious of Whole Foods and I I also will say I think we were going out for drinks maybe once a month once every couple months at that um it wasn't anything too crazy but I also feel like what carnivore did for me was really set boundaries between what I between what I need and what I want and you know it wasn't just I'm getting all this I'm getting you know eating all this meat and avoiding all these other things it's more like um I wasn't waiting for I can't wait to come back it was because after after you you see it you can't unsee it you know it's 30 days of carnivore and and really setting yourself to the standard it's it's like wow what what can I do if I really keep going each and every day does it get better than this and it does and it does and it does and then you look at all these other things that you used to dabble in you know whether it be a dessert every once in a while or alcohol every once in a while and you know for me it's it's what I've come to realize is man i' I feel so much better without all that and without stumbling back into that it's it's more of for me it's kind of holding myself to a higher level of self-respect um I know people can be okay with um drinking out time to time and indulging in these other things but um I i' I've just noticed how good I feel on sticking with uh just just me and carnivore and I can't unse seee it like I said so I that's why I've I've made a lot of content for myself on my pages back a couple several months ago about carnivore it's because I encourage people to really just kind of experience this level of of of feeling good for them I don't really know how to else to describe it I I just say feeling good is is the best way I can describe it it's just it's something I can only know since I've uh indulged in the carnivore uh ways of living yeah hey guys just want to take a second to thank our sponsor at carnivore bar I don't promote many products because honestly all you need to be healthy is to just eat meat for those times that you're out hiking road tripping or stuck at work and you want nutritious snack that is just meat fat and salt if you want it the carnivore bar is a great option so I like this product not because it's just pure meat but also because I want the carnivore Market to thrive as well and the more we support meat only products the more meat only products that will be available in the mainstream so if this sounds like something you'd like to get behind check it out using my discount code Anthony to get 10% off which also applies to subscriptions giving you 25% off total all right thanks guys nice so how you said this this fixed a lot of your problems and especially getting rid of the of the spinach so what were some of the issues that you were having you may not even have known you were having yeah so I will say before I went on Carnival I was eating it got to a point where I was eating yes spinach every day for breakfast and then I was also eating a thousand yes a kilo of rice per day which it got yeah nuts I was eating yeah because at some point I had all three meals of the day and I was thinking okay like this is a lot I even knew it was it was a lot but I didn't know it was particularly bad you know so I I noticed myself waking up every morning with terrible stomach pain it was it was it felt interesting I was thinking okay I'm I'm break my sleep I know I would go to sleep thinking yep probably not going to get seven hours of sleep tonight gonna get woken up five hours in six hours in it's it's not going to feel good I'm gonna feel weird energy levels throughout the day always having to rely on three meals uh to get me you know shot up for a couple hours go back down shot up for a couple hours based on my energy levels um my my also something I noticed too was yeah we talked about it just a second ago my my digestive um my digestion just spending multiple times you know on the toilet per day and that's something that I I really really realized was a huge problem after I got uh really deep into carnivore was just how much time I was spending um on the in the bathroom per day and it it was it was tough it was through to four times and I didn't really enjoy it at all it didn't feel good never felt good but I thought it was normal it was it had been like that for years genuine years um and then I'd say the last thing for me that I I'm really glad that um was was was fixed over the long run was my skin and and now on this on this diet I thought okay I can't get better than this so I'm having to use skin products and skin products that you know are very very attractive they do these use these six different things and it'll help you with your skin along the way you you know CLE wash your face twice a day with these with a certain brand and and okay it'll be fine because clearly my diet's not the problem I'm already eating you know Peak so I have to focus on these skin products and you lo and behold it didn't take me that far I was spending money on these things for years couple years and um yeah I I really got used to relying on it um so that didn't change at all and I noticed I developing um cysts I I think these small these small Under the Skin cysts and if I if I can remember the name of whatever was called because I got told two different things by two different doctors um one in Japan and one in one in uh the United States um I I'll have to send it to you to see if you if you've seen any people heal from this as well so I'll probably have to send them message later but anyway I dealt with looking at my skin every single day every week just expecting a new um zit to pop up or something to go you know break out and it got to a point where I was just really fed up with that and I was just really really sad it attacked my self-confidence a lot because I knew it wasn't the I knew it wasn't just commercial it wasn't commercial worth the acne right it wasn't the worst thing in the world it wasn't cystic it wasn't anything terrible but it had been there for years and years and years and I just thought what is going on what is causing these things and and you know turned out the biggest you know it was just a gut problem it was what I was putting into my body the entire time what I control the entire time so I started I started relying on these supplements and these these face products and I thought these would take me to the next level and in reality you know right now I don't use any of that stuff I um don't use any face products don't use any supplements and all I'm using is yeah just just my diet to help me Thrive and yeah it it sounds so crazy at first because I came up years and years and years you know expecting to rely on something to get me there um to achieve these goals of you know Clean Skin one day or feeling good one day for digestion and yeah it's just it's a lot of things you can solve just by putting the right stuff in your body so that's one of the huge realizations I had yeah and for the skin too um for me as well used to spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars a month on skin products um but in reality once I cut out and it's funny because I you would do I would do that for years but when I look back in old pictures now I always see you know acne scars on my face I always Zs or or you know things on my face from all past years when I was doing this and lo and behold when I first implemented carnivore um and kept it consistent the skin all the my skin issues went away and it was really really incredible I went from you know buying all these face products and skin products to just like not buying them anymore at all and and really switching to just Tallow soap you know which is just uh just really really simple and and amazing and I've had the best skin I've ever had in my life also with the mood and digestion I just want to highlight that because that was a really really massive change for me once I started carnivore my mood uh and digestion really correlate with each other meaning I would have a huge meal with a ton of in my case a lot of carbs a lot of rice and my energy would just I immediately just sink for the next hour hour and a half I feel slow I remember many times I finish lunch and I just don't want to do anything afterwards just super slow and it's really the middle of the day so I'm like operating at half capacity for the last half of the day wasn't wasn't really good I felt just at the half the potential I could be operating at for most of my days on on this um so when I started carnivore the mood the energy levels you know I think a lot of people talk about the like a ton of high energy with with carnivore and for me it was really just what it really was was just having the energies consistently just here up here instead of going from like here and then down here in the middle of the day coming down here and then maybe at the end and I I finally get a little bit back it's at the midpoint carnivore is usually just especially once you fully adapt it's mostly just it's just I was here the entire time stabilized which is really really new for me I just couldn't really believe it and then with I think that La that was definitely ated by the digestion too um you know I I used to think I was intolerant to eggs and as soon as I cut spinach out I was totally fine so I used to have beef eggs and spinach in the morning and I just Sprint to the bathroom right after and I was like yeah it must be eggs cuz definitely not spinach obviously not finish like that's impossible but as soon as I cut that out I was like wow that that was screwing me for years and years so once the digestion was was way more stable like fluid um and just seamless I once my poops were just way way less freaking way like way more comfortable that's when I really notic a huge difference too and I think the energy levels was correlated with that as well so nice yeah couldn't have been the yard waste that that couldn't have been it bag of leaves you know you go weed the garden you have this bag of leaves and then you throw that out and you go to the grocery store and you just buy a bag of leaves and put in a bowl and you know eat it it's yeah it's it's a bit wild and um you know we just like when people who just haven't studied botney or biology you know talk like what are you talking about plants have toxins all this sort of stuff it's like all right well why do you why do you go to the store then you know why don't you just like pick leaves out of your garden or just just eat yard clippings you know like why why you spending money on this you know you just go in the woods and just live in on bushes you know like yeah exactly so you know it's it's very funny um that I mean I I was taught this as a kid you know that you can't just eat random plants you know they're poisonous they're toxic you know and then and then in the same breath they're like eat your vegetables you know I like well hold on what what happened what just happened you just said don't eat my vegetables those are the good ones like oh okay all right and you take the word for it but then uh you know you find out that it's that it's uh complet garbage you know yeah yeah um so now so you guys have you know improved your skin uh improved your energy levels obviously improved you not having to go to the bathroom all the time that's one thing yeah I I you always see the the sort of vegan people or other people saying well you just you know need to go to the bathroom to send any other them like um you know you say they're convinced that you just cannot go to the bathroom without fiber and it's it's um it's hilarious you know there's like no you need you need fiber to go to the bathroom it's just like no it's just when you eat fiber you can't stop going to the bathroom there's just so much stuff you you just have to keep going you know and and when you don't eat that you just actually just go normally and um yeah it's always funny the the things that people Trot out like that you know yeah yeah and I've had a lot of people say to me too it's like well in terms of I mean for instance like coffee for example or in vegetables too but the fiber in general I mean people say I've always said like like I've I've had like a month ago half ago I actually drank coffee for the first time in a long time and I've never been a coffee person coming from Seattle it's the main thing but I've actually never been a coffee person I really never drink it consistently ever uh but I decided to get a shot of espresso because I had to I wanted to get Wi-Fi at this Cafe and I actually I was like I'll just drink it and then it just went right through me for the next next 10 minutes and then I posted about that on you know on on Instagram I was like wow this really just happened to me this is insane I this never doesn't happen and my one my friend was like this that's the best part about it though like that's one of the best parts about coffee and then I've had the same people say the same thing about uh eating vegetables like this is the best part about these things that they just make you go and I'm just like that's not you know usually I feel really good when I don't do that you know that's you know so I think people are a lot of in misinformation and I think the it's it's really incredible it's once I've experienced this side of things it's you can it's way easier to see how people like the common trail of of thought you know and other on this realm too yeah yeah I think that it it all that stuff is in there and it's just you know sometimes you this magical you know fiber and then it pushes that all out like I mean like there's something there like behind it pushing it out it's all just one thing you know and so they think it's you know so that that is the bulk you know so it it's not that it's pushing the St that's in there out it's is creating things to be in there so that it can go out you know you're it's it's like you know digging a ditch just to fill it back up again you know with the same dirt it's just like it's just this a complete waste of time um so now that you guys um you know you fix your energy levels skin all these all the sorts of things um how you feeling now like what's dayto day like how do you um you know you said you know very consistent energy and everything like that you do you notice a difference between people that you're with or what are you able to do that other people aren't yeah absolutely there's um I want to take it I want to take it over the past weekend real quick of what we experienced when we were guests at this this island this small small island off the off the mainland of Japan and so yeah it was it was a great event uh for yeah Canal players of course but um Zach and I this is actually the first time so that this is this this is related to the question in a different way this is the first time we were actually you know we were with these people they're paying for our stay paying for our food um very small island almost nothing there first time we weren't super strict with what we were eating um it was what we was given to us and you know with all the these eggs that we bought these all these hardboiled eggs that we bought at the convenience store before we left uh on the ferry to the island only last us for so long right I mean we bought out the store and then they could last us the whole week and so unfortunate um so after we ran out of those we started consuming just classic Japanese food just small portions of rice fish um just some vegetables definitely some sugars and seetal in there with the sauces they love to flavor the thing the food and you know have that uh just have their food taste really good and um you know I I noticed immediately my energy levels and I actually felt bad because some sometimes I was thinking dang I'm is really not present right now because I can't I don't feel I just feel this brain fog taking over just genuinely taking over and I used to think did I ever have brain fog because I always I was calling carnivore I was thinking did I ever even have that I don't even know what that feels like I didn't have a comparison but right then and there I I knew I I knew immediately and um it was difficult it was difficult to go through the week and as with the High Spirits I usually have um having to you know bounce all over the place with this the rice and the sugar the sauces um obviously tried to do the best we could but yeah it was U it was a different experience for sure and we just realized the importance of uh the red meat and and what we usually have because we didn't you know the first time I think from both of us that we really straight off the path for that long for two I think it was two three days yeah and even just then we knew but usually when we are now you know on our normal um Zach and I actually you know being on we've been traveling um since May so we we on this three-month travel trip through Europe and Asia currently in Japan right now like we said and and I think you know something that's really helped us sustain our work ethic and our energy levels here is is really and I want to get your opinion on this um Dr chaffy but uh really just embracing raw meats and you know we don't always have a place to cook we don't always have a place to you know store our food and and and you know cook and and hang out with friends and all do these things where always on the move with air you know bounc from hotels to airbnbs and these things like that depending on where we're going you know for a competition or event and we rely a lot on raw eggs uh raw raw beef it's been huge huge huge huge for uh us on this trip and um it's really helped us you know get get up at the same time every day get up you know actually wanting to get up and and feel that energy to to embrace the day and I know feel so oh what like well I have that too like without you know without the meeting what not no no no not I definitely after seeing the comparison it's not the same it's um yeah Z Zach and I are just buying these kilos of ground beef and fatty piece of steak as much as we can in Japan and relying on these raw eggs and at first it's like okay what is going on why why are you why are you guys doing that but it's the easiest for us to sustain this levels of energy I mean we're we're we're we're traveling to different places every single week you know every single week you think you'd get tired and and fed up with this and and don't get me wrong I personally the one the one thing I I've gotten sick of I guess is ples but other than that you know waking up every single day um attacking attacking the day again and again and again different and not with you not in your safe home not not in your safe space of oh we're here for like I've been here for years and years and years no was Zing our bouncing through new countries every week it's um you know take a taxing on your on your body but I think Zach and I have done so well with the fuel that we're putting within us that it's just it's putting us ahead I think it's giving us little advantage over the people we're staying with and I and I know it's not a it's not a competition but it's just it's just how it is waking up with more energy waking up earlier waking up you know just with more of a action plan and I think just with more Drive I don't I don't know if you can say the same Zach but you know just I guess with the raw meat and the butter it's it's Lally been so simple as that yeah I think I think utilizing just really realizing like you know people go and travel these places I mean I to understand wanting to try the cuisine and all the foods but when you realize that the like when I realize that I I function best on prioritizing meat and really just meet and eggs it's so makes traveling like this and just any just you know the energy level throughout the day just the function the day is so much simpler because it's not like I need to get my grains I need to get my vegetables I need to get this I get that like no I I get everything from these you know these Foods right here I can get everything from meat in general and utilizing the the raw meat has been super super crucial too but also to go along with this and what one one thing I've majorly noticed um going to n competitions and going to going throughout my day-to-day life and at home I've really realized the the power of being able to be satiated for a super long time that is one thing that I've I've noticed almost instantly as soon as I started St carnivore and what I mean by that is you know I mean I usually ate twice a day once sometimes once a day uh in the past and I've did twice a day mostly for the for the past year but in some days you know where I am traveling or some days where I don't have enough I don't really feel like eating or don't have enough time to eat or I think something it's better not to eat today just based on what I have for the day planned um being able to confidently be like all right well I'm know I know I'm going to be totally good until the next time I eat I know I'm going to be totally good until tomorrow or until 16 hours now until I get the chance to eat again whereas I've gone to work many times before and I've seen people eat an entire meal for two hours ago and then two hours later they're like I'm ravenously hungry I need to go eat again I'm super hungry I have they say like I have to eat right now it's a lot of I have to eat at this time I have to eat when I get off I have to eat before this um what I've really really found and is is that you know it's not like I have to multiple times a day like like everybody which I think puts me at a really big Advantage energy wise but also time wise and just the amount of work I get done a day like just it's massive I don't have to fall prey to my to my Hunger because I'm already super satiated and it makes things like you know 24-hour fast when people put like that on a big pestel almost is uh it can be a very common place it's like that becomes a normality sometimes that can be a normal feeling it's it's easy to do something like that um if you if you have to and I think that puts me at a big Advantage TimeWise just energy wise not having to think about that like all the time is just huge yeah I think I think just coming again it comes back to not having to rely on so many yeah things you don't need all the supplements you don't need all breakfast lunch and dinner you don't need all these things you don't need to go out with your friends to you know feel this energy feel this way you don't need alcohol to feel this in in line you know just being of the state of energy um once you forget all about all that and really know what Zach and I have just said embrac embracing what we prioritize going to a new location getting the meat for the week and coming back it's like okay that's it and not having to eat three times a day and not having to rely on other stimulants it's um it really puts us ahead it really saves a lot of time and a lot of thought and a lot of clarity yeah many many in many ways it makes our lives easier nice well yeah that's the thing I I've noticed the same thing about about getting used to just feeling great all the time time he was like was did I really feel that bad before because you just feel so good and now and now you don't have that contrast whereas like normally when you feel crappy eventually that just feels normal so you're like I just feel normal today and this is normal and I feel better worse compared to normal and but then when you you get off of that you you actually know what good feels like it's like I had no idea that's just absolutely amazing and so you're seeing that you're just like you're you're on cloud n you're just sort of in this this this almost this this sort of like Glee Haze where you're just like everything's great and um and then eventually that turns into normal and then it's just like you just feel amazing but that that's just normal for you because you always feel amazing and I get that too where I'm sort of thinking I was just like you know was it really that bad you know what I was what I was doing before and then something will slip in you know go to a restaurant or something like that and there's some this and you just feel like you know you just feel off it's not you feel you know not like dying and vomiting and you know just bleeding out of your eyes or something like that but you don't feel good and you and you see like actually that's a big drop and you know God forbid you get anything more like I'd be curious to see like how you guys felt like after like the rice and those sorts of things because I I cannot do that like if I got like a little bit of rice or beans like would mix into my food like I would I would be in like actual pain for like 4 days after that to the point that my back hurt so bad I couldn't even get out of bed for like 20 minutes it was absolutely insane four freaking days for like just a little bit of rice that I tried to scrape off you know how do you guys feel after that um I I would say that I got really really I guess dependent on it I felt I felt um oh it's the only thing here so I have to eat this and then after consuming you know three cups of it or you know I mean in Japan you eat rice with every meal so you're gonna get a lot you know um I would I would say that my my I wasn't waking up the same I I I will say you know it's not I didn't have anything too crazy happen but just the I guess the confidence in you know my energy it was definitely it definitely you know it there was a fault there it was it was something like oh I can't go all day anymore without having to without you know having to eat you know I I felt like oh I needed that that Rice or I'm not going to be able to put on my best for this performance or the show it's um I became a lot more reli you know I became a lot more dependent on it oh reliant reling on it I became a lot more Reliant dependent on it um and so yeah just the energy fluctuation is probably the biggest thing for me it was only a couple days but yeah yeah and and for me it was more so I mean yeah just to give a little background for those people who don't know I mean the Japanese way beting is very much the OB it's I joking about Nick it's like wow this is literally the opposite of how he eats very very much high carbs uh moderate lowfat and then definitely low low low protein like that's really what it is um and so after going a day and yeah I actually had my first day of not eating any meat for for no meat no red no meat yeah no meat in general like over the past week and my first day in like over a year which is Inc like I was like wow this is actually about to happen we don't I'm actually about not eat meat today um but I noticed after that I mean this going back to kind of like the satis the satiety right the the the the satisfaction I feel like the best part to describe um how you feel after you know you're completely adapted to carnivore you you start eating this way and the the satisfaction you get after a meal is is really nice it's not it's hard to feel like way down if you really listen to your body it's hard to feel way down you really just feel right ready to go um right after after meal for for me at least um especially if I just eat Ramy I mean that that's really takes to another level there but um I noticed after eating the Japanese style way of eating these couple days R finish a me yeah I usually for carnivore I felt like confident like all right I'm satisfied I'm ready to go let's do this I'm fued with the best I'm I feel super amazing right now and then after I finished meal I'm like I my first thought was one did I really just eat food because I just don't really feel like I did anything there for myself that was going to be beneficial and two uh I would leave the meal and I would notice a couple hours in like wow I'm just really not prepared mentally like I usually am I'm really not full like have the same energy levels um I could definitely feel it taking a toll on me and as the days past it was more and more to the point where I noticed my mood just drop yeah like actually pretty significantly because um and the stuff I was saying and stuff I noticed myself talking like with Nick I I noticed myself I don't know just become a little more negative for like one to two days and I was like this is not a normal thing and it felt so more natural to me to be that but I just knew was because the confidence I had with what I was eating it wasn't high and it was I knew that uh I just wasn't getting the same I didn't feel as good off of that so uh we're all good now we're back on back on regular there at the all anymore we're more control of our food but um I definitely noticed that type of like that mood and the energy levels in the the satisfaction overall of eating the confidence how how I was going to feel rest the day it was definitely dropped yeah I also found myself trying to catch a nap every chance I could every single chance I could in the car on the ferry I was actually so ready to sleep anytime and I'm never like that I'm I never take naps um especially I've never I don't think I took one nap this whole year eating eating just meat I'm not saying naps are bad but I don't I don't like to be waiting you know ready to go to bed any chance I get throughout the day you know I'm not trying to do that um it just feels like a little groggy just not feeling you know my my 100% my best and I just felt myself really just you know can't wait for the fery can't wait for the the car just like 20 minutes anything I can get just get me more sleep because yeah I was just in a state of I was just tired a lot of the time didn't feel too great yeah um yeah I mean I think for me just because I'm messing up my back so much that you know that was that's my big ban thing that that jumps out at me but you know same thing you know just you don't feel your best you feel tired you know have like even if I would have milk I mean have milk like I get my hands on like some raw milk every now then like once a year something like that they'll have some of that but like just one one glass and you know you'll find shortly afterwards and then hour later I'm passing out on the couch in the middle of the day it's like that happens you know and um you know you just get that spike in blood sugar now your insulin comes up now your blood sugar goes too low now your hypoglycemia get reactive hypoglycemia and now suppresses your ketones and just you crash you know and uh at least that's what probably is going on anyway and um you know but yeah it just makes you feel rubbish and just tired all the time so you know I I think that um you you talking about the the raw meat like if that's your option it's not a bad option you know if you're in a country like Japan and other places that have good you know meat safety and very low contamination and things like that then that's um usually pretty fine especially with like the whole meat like if it's hamburger you because bacteria is going to be on the surface now first of all there's almost no bacteria on these things generally they're very very carefully checked and they take samples and send them off and they grow anything they'll pull the whole thing back and so but you know just handling is going to get bacteria on the surface and just being out in the air and um but it' be on the surface now you grind that up in the hamburger and now that's mixing in all the the bacteria on the inside and then they can sort of grow and get a bit crazy um if left long enough but um you either way you know it's um it's not going to have that much uh at first and so the the traditional convention was that if it was fresh ground like you ground it sort of that day you know yourself or butcher just freshly grounded it was it was fairly safe to eat that raw and otherwise you know maybe maybe maybe cook it but the the whole Meats definitely especially if you're not drinking just tons of water around meal time you know you're going to chew that up a lot of the the bacteria are going to be on the surface there's not going to be that many of them anyway and then when you swallow that it's the your stomach acid is just going to Scorch them you know that's what that's what that's what that's there for that's what that low ph is there for and so it's um you know you do you do run a risk because there there could be contamination there could have been food handling errors or you know someone who was who had it before you um messed around with it you know if you had something on your hands you know that wouldn't be smart either so You' wash your hands but you know the other the other concern would be like parasites but you know the the amount of um cases of parasites that are found in uh farmed meat in Western countries is exceedingly low in America I don't even think they've in America I believe they haven't found tronos and pigs in like 25 years now you know so it's um you know they've just they've just kept it they've kept it out of the population they've done a really good job doing that and so you know Wild game yeah I wouldn't eat that Raw you know like even even like salmon you know you're not supposed to eat just like a like a fresh caught salmon like it has to be still prepared in a certain way to to deal with parasites you know you know just um you don't just buy a slab of salmon and and slice it up like sushimi you know hey everyone really happy to announce a new sponsor for the show for everybody down in Australia Stockman beef I just want to say um for Nick and myself we've ever yeah gotten sick off raw beef of course proceed with you know whatever caution you know their own research and everything but uh that is one thing I want to make clear on this we definitely me like many times in our lives so for those listening whoever yeah I mean I know it's obviously super super foreign it's like probably even crazier than the carnivore diet right like you're oh my God literally gonna die you're you're dead for sure you know but uh yeah Nick and I experience with ra beef always been good um so I will say yeah I've definitely gone a couple weeks at a time just doing raw raw beef um there certain weeks spurts here and there where I'm just thinking okay I'm just gonna eat raw and see how it is because I'm just curious um and I think personally I've never had better digestion than when just eating raw um just and that's just raw beef I I've hardly ever eaten raw pork or never eaten raw chicken yet um I'm open to the idea i' definitely like to try it see how see how it makes me feel but yeah raw beef has been has been great usually just consuming steaks and um ground beef at that um yeah it's it's definitely I notice I noticed though that I I I don't think I eat naturally as much I think it's you know um I'm not sure if cooking it um when you when you cook meat you know when you say you get a pack of 800 G 800 grams of meat or a kilo meat you know you cook some of it off so it's not as much so it's not like actually the total amount in there but I noticed that when I just go raw go raw then I'm not actually eating as much uh or it doesn't look like I'm eating as much maybe I'm just getting full faster I'm not sure but anyway my my my my D my digestion is um all the best it's ever been um but I will say before before I um was onto red meat before or was onto raw raw red meat before I got the idea of that's even a a possibility I was I saw one of your videos about um you know dehydrating Meats for taking trips and in an air fryer and man that changed my life I I seriously seriously it's um you know first time we did it I think went to the yeah World Championships last year for can and I thought okay it's a cross country trip for me I'm gonna air fry I don't know 10 12 steaks just pack in my suitcase and just go at it and such a simple way of traveling and using your food I mean you've had I think you have a couple reals couple YouTube shorts up on there on your your channel and I've watched those so many times just thinking wow what if I could do that and then I went to Costco bought myself this instant pot that could do air frying and yeah it was huge huge turn so if people are looking for you know ways to travel and still keep up the cariv war diet and and still be on your stuff you know there's raw meat out there but also there's other options such as air frying and preparation and so it works extremely well I just wanted to you know give a little shout out there because that was me last year really really being thankful for that video that I saw of yours yeah last year last year when I went to the World Championships I was eating like rice balls and stuff and all this all these things the Nick pull out he's like all right let's go like competition day pull out his dried his steak and I'm just like you right now so bad you know so it's really awesome yeah yeah that that was a that was a game changer for like especially like traveling you're doing these big International trips you know everything's a big international trip from Australia so it's um like minimum 24 hours like wherever you go and so yeah we just like just slice up thin steaks and and dry them out in the in the food dehydrator and and they were great you know and you got like you just you know you got to roast this big and all of a sudden just you know dries down to like you know that much worth of little steak it's a bit shocking you're like oh my God that's that's thought it was but it um or maybe half of that and like uh but good it's good and it lasts is very filling and um you know I've eaten raw meat like I I don't have a problem with it we know I'm in in countries that I that I you know I trust the you know the meat Supply from yeah and uh and you know when I'm cooking my just natural taste I'll sear the outside just make it you know crispy and bubbly and then the inside's just dead raw I mean sometimes it's still cold and so and I prefer that it just tastes good and then yeah um or just like you I was cutting up liver the other day rarely eat liver but I'm I'm you know sort of incorporating it a bit every now and then and um and I was just sort of cutting it up and I was just looking at it as it was just there like raw and it for some reason it just looked really appetizing and so I just like ate a piece of Raw Liver I'm like that's amazing like that's the best piece of liver I've ever had in my life like cooking is terrible why would we ever do it you know it's like it's it's the difference between like really good sashimi and canant tuna you know it's just they destroy fish you know when you cook it and it destroys the liver too and I I even like sort of seared it and just left the inside raw that was too much too it was just the outside part was like oh God it really changes it the texture and the flavor massively changes the flavor so I ended up eating the rest of that thing raw you know over the course the next like two days and way better way better yeah yeah no it's I noticed that um when I freeze liver I cut it up the season I don't I don't know if you ever done that maybe that's what you did but I just put it in the freezer uh put you know cut it up into small pieces and take a piece out every day just eat it I found that way to be a nice way to consume it as well it tastes practically like nothing and I find it enjoyable yeah yeah no no M was like like like wet raw like okay like cutting up yeah just straight up raw and it actually tastes good it didn't even taste like oh I can deal with it like I I enjoyed it like I wanted yeah and uh and then you know after you have a few pieces your body tells you like yeah it's probably enough you know and just like it's very nutrient-dense and and just like when you're eating steak you're you're eating that and it tastes good it tastes good and then it tastes less good and eventually you're just like d I'm fine yeah you got there a lot quicker with liver you know the liver liver you had had a few pieces and it tasted really good and then you're just like yeah I feel fine and I put the rest in the fridge on the drying racks just like I dry my steaks and the thing with liver when you do that uh after a few days if it's thin enough it it turns into like a gummy candy and like actually like after like day four day four five depending on how thick it is um three if it's really thin it it actually has a consistency of a gummy bear wow really yeah and so like I mean I I had that I figured that out the first time and like chewing this stuff I'm like my God it's like a like a meat flavored gummy bear it's like the best best gummy bear there is and um and so yeah I had I had this whole liver just just gummed basically it just sort of dried it out a bit but not all the way if it's all the way then it's all hard and taste great and uh but when it's just before that it's still tacky it's it's actually like a gummy bear it's it's uh it's fantastic oh wow try that that's yeah I like what you said too about um your body just knowing you get that feeling right you get more once you go into Carnival I think I feel like one of the I think that and I forgot to mention getting more in tune of what our body wants and when it's telling us to stop or you know when it's telling us it needs more um it's a really really unique feeling um coming from someone who wasn't Carnival before and lying all this rice these carbohydrates these things that would make me want to eat or make me feel like I want to eat you know taking all that out and and really actually you know understanding when when you say on your videos you know when you when it stops tasting as good when it stops you know tasting good even or you that's the time to stop and I used to think what does he mean by you know I don't know I just don't know what like what a steak gonna taste like garbage I'm not sure but it and that's not what you meant it's just your body's telling you you can feel it you can literally feel it saying okay maybe it's time to stop you're not it's Harding it's harder to take the bites it's harder to you know St as much down it's like okay that means you're done because and I've I've experienced this why I listen to that is when I've experienced eating past that I think you know a lot of you know we gets the point where fat is spilling over and the you know the ball movements start to run um I find myself in the bathroom you know going you know having a small uh you know uh episode in there of of and and don't get me wrong it's not painful or anything it's just this a more of like a soft liquid consistency coming out just because I think I would I was eating a little more than my body you know needed it's more of like I wanted this this more you know more steak all these other things maybe it's a little too much fat at that point maybe it's a little too much butter at that point um and so that's why I thought okay that's actually legit if I if I eat more it's just going to the excess is going to come out maybe uh all the stuff that my body you know you know doesn't have the room to use right now it's it's going to you know shift out and um that's when I you know after a lot of you know personal experience with that I just thought okay I totally understand what he's meaning right by that now it's a good connection yeah the body yeah yeah um yeah you you're saying that like you know eating raw meat is like probably as crazy as it gets you know like you you go you go carnivore and that's like insane and then you go like raw carnivore and it's like that's insane for carnivores but then but then have you heard of these guys that do uh you know because you worried about you know raw me oh but it could have contamination goodness you heard about these guys that do high meat that they intentionally Let It Go bad and let it rot yes covered in bacteria like it mean like everything that you say like you need to cook it and prepare it and never eat it raw and all that sort of stuff um everything that they're trying to protect against these guys are just diving head first into and and um I've never dabbled in that um I haven't actually you know like interviewed You Know spoken to someone directly about that I've certainly come across people online that do that and you know the ones that do you know they they swear by it you know they say they they feel even like you know they they you know same thing that um you you would have told your like you would even know how bad you feel like they're saying that about us like you guys don't even know you have no idea it's like it's just it's just next level um I will say I I've eat I've eaten spoiled meat once uh for periods of days at a time because I bought a huge case of it at Costco and I could just tell it was just man it smelled it smelled bad and I knew that it was it was something was up and I I realized if I cook it it tastes so bad but if I eat it raw then it's it's tolerable fine so I was one thing I I proved to myself there it's like okay not going to die if I eat this you know it's still it's still giving me the energy it's still good it just smell of it's not my preferred smell um but that's the farest I've gone so far but yeah I've definitely heard of people um actually doing this on purpose and uh it's it's interesting I I mean i' i' personally like to try my my roommate literally did that yeah yeah so yeah I live in a house where like the norm is definitely meat meat based which is super super awesome but yeah that's why you brought that up so I was like yeah my roommate definitely has done that multiple times and yeah he said this like really amazing experience I mean yeah I mean definitely takes some takes a mental hurdle to get over you're literally looking at me that's 100% like this is your instinct is like yeah 100% this is going to be not good for me you know but once you get over that I mean sometime I'm not I'm not out I'm not about to just encour people do that on here because I haven't done it myself but I know people who have done it like you said and have experienced uh a good experience on it yeah yeah yeah and so he said it was a good experience like he felt even better than he normally did or some sort of like psychedelic response or something like that like what or something like that or so like that high yeah I feel like literally high off I mean I have a roommate who l in an entire like an actual entire chicken raw so yeah after that he he experienced uh just effects like yeah psychedelic type effects and yeah 100% I've heard that yeah he said that so yeah which is incred which pretty interesting yeah it is interesting you know a bit concerning you know like what's going on like what sort of like neurotoxins are these like bacteria producing that's making you like how is this actually happening like yeah um yeah it's um it is interesting know some of the I I saw an was like a news clip and they they went to this guy house and he was just like look this is gross I know it's gross I'm never going to get married like no one's ever going to live with me because my house just reeks but he's like I have to do this because I've had such bad autoimmune issues I had all these you know issues this is the only thing this is the only thing that helps and I just can't live like that and he would take this stff out the fridge looked like something out of like a CSI like you know crime show you know it's just it was just horrible all just like rotting old plates with like mold fur over them there like green meat and jars and you're just like oh my God like yeah this this one's almost ready I'm probably going to give it a week and you know this it was it was putrid it was absolutely putrid he's taking like these pieces out and he's outside he's like he eats them outside like he doesn't even eat him inside but you know just um just that was enough in his house just red and so he's outside eating this stuff and um and and I just you know I just want to know like did did you try normal carnivore first you know you TR just you know just just like be from water because I i' I got a lot of patients with autoimmune issues and they do really really well on just normal ass beef and water did you did you try it you know I get it like you if that wasn't enough and and it it's just know it had to be it had to be rotting for you to do that but you know I I do wonder and I I do hope that like you you don't have to live this way if you don't want to exactly there's some traditional um dishes like that though um the Inuit up in uh like I know at least in Alaska anyway they would take fish heads you know so they C the fish eat them and then some they take fish heads and they' bury them and for like six months and it's come out and they're just putrid you probably have maggots and things like that in them and and um apparently like some people just just absolutely love them in that community and others hate them I saw this thing years ago long long before carnivore um and uh and it was like his husband and wife and his wife just loved these things and he just hated them thought the most disgusting things ever and she just wreaked afterwards and so he would um she would like hide these things there was like this this ongoing battle between them and they were like in their 60s you know they been doing this for years and so she' just get all these fish heads and like bury them around the house and you under the house and in the garden and all these other sorts of places and and uh if ever he came across him he just he just throw him out just don't get rid of these things and she she'd leave this for like six months and every now and then she'd have like a bunch of different stashes and like one of them would slip through you know like would would beat the Mind sweeping and then she' just have like and she'd eat these things and he said he he'd kick her out he's like no you you don't you can't live here for the next 5 days take take it five days he's saying for to be something you could be in the same room oh go and and um it was just funny to me so there there's less extreme versions of that as well right which would be um like in Norway they have um I'm pronouncing it right uh rfis I think it just sounds for rotten fish and they just sort of like sort of there it's like locks you know almost like smoked salmon but it's like has like this gy sort of rotten taste so they actually let these things like rotten ferment a bit and that's they packed in barrels and would take with them on these long sea voyages you know and and not get scurvy and um yeah so that that was a traditional thing and then the other one they had like a rotting um lamb something like that they just have barrels of rotten lamb and and fish slightly I guess rotten because like when I had it it wasn't wasn't riic or anything like was like that guy's fridge but you tell it was a bit off you know so I think there you know so and and and raw you know it's it's definitely served raw and the at least the fish yeah fish was and the uh the lamb I don't know if they cook that I would doubt it though and uh and that's what they use so these big long sea voyages you know with with the Vikings and things like that just you know going around messing things up just eating a bunch of rotting meat you know so maybe maybe that's next level stuff you know some some you know uh some Eric the Cocker sort of things yeah yeah wow wow yeah I mean yeah I gu hearing all that I mean just really shows those levels to this man yeah I I don't think I'd try the fish heads anytime soon yeah me neither I I prefer I prefer like my favorite state is definitely just like the regular Carnival where you cook your meat and stuff obviously eating raw if I have to I prefer that yeah I will but yeah yeah I I think um you know a couple times that I've sort of been that situation where you're just like okay well look you know traveling and don't have way to cook I'm just going to eat it raw and I've done that was fine it was great yeah um you when I first came to Australia like um you know five five and a half years ago um I got this big slab of meat beef like ribeye and um I brought it back to the Airbnb when I was looking for your know place to stay and and um and it uh uh the the like the stove was was busted like it just wasn't working I'm like you got to be kidding me so like I could not cook this I had this whole whole RI by loin I'm like I can't even eat this damn thing I'd already like cut up steaks and everything I'm like all right screw it and I just like cut it up in into cubes and um and I was using salt salt back then I don't really know and I I just salted it I put it in a dish and and just left it for you know an hour or two and just let like the salt like soak in and um couldn't even see it it was gone after after you know several minutes and and I just started eating it just raw just eating these chunks raw great yeah just just Dow steaks it was fantastic you know so um yeah I have no problem doing that as long as you can trust the meat you know and I feel fine doing it I don't know if I feel better or worse but I haven't done like a whole big stretch of job I'm just going to do two weeks of raw or anything like that which might be an interesting experiment yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah well cool so how do obviously you know if you're just feeling better having more mental Clarity and energy out throughout the day I'm sure this can uh affect your your game and your performance significantly but have you noticed any specific um benefits and how this approve or or or how this affected your um your playing yeah yeah well for me I definitely think it is is giving me advantage of just the state of my body the longevity you know can provide not a lot of cramping um with with kinama you can you know you're using your legs a lot you a lot of miniature squats all day long and your shoulder you know you body parts like these it can get they can get worn out actually you know when you're playing for a significant period of time I know hours on end two to three hours on end um but you know I know a lot of canal players deal with lower back pain or like you know their knees or their shoulders and I think I think eating this way has definitely put me above I I mean I think you know Zach and I both prioritize training but you know we also know that what we're putting in our bodies is is equally as important and so I will I'm not sure if it's giv you know if I've seen a huge increase in my hand eye coordination ability I think I think 12 years in the game Zach and I were you know it's very height that that that skill is very heightened at this point but I'd say just the longer ability to perform at a high level you know this I think the carnivore diet has helped us immensely with that just not getting worn out not getting as tired being able again to function all day long without having to rely on you know this substance or this stimulant or this food or this that you know we can go all day without having to get distracted by any of those things yeah and a lot of people you know the the community of Kama it's it's it's amazing uh in terms of like the type of people are in there all like 99% people are super nice and everything and um but there there's some differences uh between like the way people eat the way people cheat their bodies actually a lot of people are more so uh I've noticed um I guess plant-based in the kic community um we the thing thing for me really when I started doing car war is just again and again shows up is just the amount of time I I can just focus on just what I need to do at events like just what I need the playing the focusing the practice practicing um don't have to think about really like okay when's my next meal going to be when's my next meal going to be I have to get ready I have to eat I have to eat this or I have to you know sub people um use substances I mean like people you see this in day-to-day life not just not just kic just in day-to-day life people are like Vape or or smoke weed or something like this or drink a lot of coffee to stay on top of of what they're doing or whatever um I'm I Nick and I definitely don't use any substances and we operate I feel I genely feel like at the an energy level that's some of the highest at at these events and it's very very consistent so I think that just have it provides me a lot of confidence that I'm going to prepare my body with the best I can and it makes me feel like super super good without any luls that's the biggest thing too it's like I don't have any luls like this like I was describing earlier it's all just moderately just up here at a higher level it just stays there which is something that I think really really helps my focus as well nice yeah yeah well um so I was going to see and feel free to to to say no but uh for people that haven't seen uh Kon can you give it like a bit of a demonstration you guys hear me did you cut out yeah abely we're good yeah yeah totally totally I'll move the camera okay okay so maybe just show up what like with parts of it again so yeah these for can three cups big small base cup and a ball all connected by a string the main goal is to connect the two pieces together the first couple tricks are is getting them on the cups like this going between the cups here and then finally what you want to do is put it on the spike connect this the hardest to connect both pieces together usually once you get more into it you can actually hold it by the the opposite way hold the ball it on these types of Tricks here and go through all the cups as well and then obviously of course it's connected by a stream but you can juggle as well going through the different cups like so and then finally I mean we're in such a small room so it's a little tough but yeah lot of a lot of you can you play with the string it's it's very there's a lot more than meets the eye uh of what you can do on this just it's just all wood very very excellent hand eye coordination tool I think Zach and I have yeah it's um a couple different things like yo-yo and and um yeah couple couple things along the way but it's um this is the something that's we've you know taking the most interest into and yeah we it's never ending yeah and yeah so that's the ball's a hole in it and he's connecting the yeah even when you call it like in between the Peg and the and the cup you know which is not it's not even supposed to go there you know so it's like like the yeah like Jesus definitely takes good amount of balance I would like here that's crazy yeah thank you yeah it's taking we've do it for a long time so yeah yeah we have to I mean that yeah I mean that's like that's like you know like the ball in the cup game most can't even get the ball in the cup you know like next level you know it's like ball in cup on steroids for sure exactly way more options but uh it's yeah it's it was good oh that's badass thanks man I appreciate it yeah yeah thank you so much for that yeah God I didn't miss there well I know you when you put on the spot there you're like oh you know that was great yeah that was when is when is your competition starting you're sort of in the in the works has it has the had like I I don't know if it's like how how many days or anything like that it goes but uh when does it get going so it's July 27th and July 28th uh the K world championships for this year um and so yeah it's a two-day event uh one one day for preliminaries and one day for finals Zach and I have made uh the final every single year we've gone um you know I'm a you know Zach is qualified every single year I think I think you've highest probably in the top top top top 10 couple years um highest definitely Ninth Place couple years in a row and then Nick Nick's actually won this competition before he's won the World Championships nice so he's a world champion so yeah going back to this event we've been going to this event since 2016 had a couple of years there where it wasn't really in operation because of covid but every single year we usually go to this event and compete and been able to yeah stay at the highest level for since so looking forward to it again yeah yeah it's good several hundred people there as well I think this year there's going to be what's looking like I think this year there's I don't know 700 800 maybe close to a thousand at this point it grows every year but yeah really just a couple days full of uh people the entire country of Japan practically every single player goes and then yeah people from all over the world come as well so it's it's a nice couple days to get to bond with everybody and yeah it's a good time yeah so like so like 700 uh contestants like like competitors or um watching absolutely so so yeah the the people who compete that's the way that's the one thing we can measure is the people that actually compete the people including that watch definitely over a thousand uh just the spectators and people's you know parents you know anybody can compete in this um you know even if you do only just start yesterday you can still sign up to compete for it there you know it's open to everyone um but yeah usually there's about a 100 200 players who have a chance at making the finals and and doing you know going hav a real chance at it so yeah they take the there's there hundreds and hundreds of players close to a thousand this year but they take the top 35 players into the finals so everybody can compete on day one but you have to be at a pretty Elite level to be on day two for the finals so yeah that makes sense yeah very cool well awesome guys thank you so much uh for that I really appreciate that uh how can people find you and and follow you and see more of uh more of your stuff yeah so you can follow us on Instagram
